Privacy Policy

Our approach

Symzo is designed as a local-first notes and reminders app for Apple devices. Your notes, tasks, and reminder content are stored in an encrypted local vault on your device. We do not operate a hosted notes database or use your note content for advertising.

Information Symzo handles

• Notes, tasks, and reminders: stored locally in your encrypted vault. Symzo does not receive or read this content.
• Apple device identity: when you choose to sign in with Apple, Symzo uses the Apple-provided account identifier to help verify that nearby devices belong to the same owner. This identity is stored locally and protected by your device's secure storage.
• Reminder permissions: if you allow notifications, Symzo schedules reminders locally on your device.
• Backups you choose to export: a password-protected .symzobackup file is created only when you request an export. Where and with whom you store or share that backup is your choice.

Nearby sync

Nearby device sync is peer-to-peer. Symzo uses Apple Multipeer Connectivity to connect your nearby devices through available local connections, such as peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, local Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a personal hotspot. Sync is not routed through a Symzo server.

Analytics with Mixpanel

Symzo plans to use Mixpanel to understand how people use the app and improve reliability and features. When analytics is enabled, Mixpanel may receive usage events and limited technical information, such as app version, device and operating-system information, language, approximate region inferred from IP address, and event timestamps. We do not send note, task, reminder, or backup content to Mixpanel.

We will provide any consent, choice, or controls required by applicable law before collecting analytics data. Mixpanel processes analytics data on our behalf under its own privacy terms.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We share information only with service providers needed to operate a feature you choose to use, including Apple for Sign in with Apple and device services, and Mixpanel when analytics is enabled.

Retention and your choices

Your local vault remains on your device until you delete its content, reset the app, or remove the app. You control exported backups. Analytics data, if collected, is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above and according to our configured retention settings.

You can manage notification permissions in your device settings. To ask a privacy question, request deletion of analytics data, or exercise another privacy right, contact us at privacy@symzo.app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Symzo or our data practices change. We will post the updated version here and revise the date above.
